Wax & durability
What wax does Ravenna's Shop use and why?
Ravenna's Shop uses rapeseed wax .
Rapeseed wax
Rapeseed wax is made from the rapeseed flower and is therefore a vegetable wax. You see this small yellow flower in many places. For example, it is grown in Canada, France, Belgium, Ireland, the United Kingdom, the United States, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and Poland. Suppliers deliver from the EU. Rapeseed wax is the most sustainable choice for us because it ensures less CO2 emissions. In addition, bees love the rapeseed flowers. More fields with rapeseed flowers also means that the bees have an easier time.
The benefits:
- Rapeseed wax has a longer burning time and absorbs fragrance oil better
- Rapeseed wax is non-toxic and biodegradable
- Rapeseed wax is easy to remove and leaves no grease stains
- Rapeseed wax burns cleaner and produces less smoke, which results in less soot emissions
Because no paraffin wax is used, the chance of complaints of headaches and respiratory problems from a wax melt or candle is much smaller. When paraffin evaporates, certain substances are released that irritate the respiratory tract and eyes. This results in the well-known complaints. Given the nature of the complaints, Ravenna's Shop unfortunately cannot guarantee that it works 100% for everyone.
Ravenna's Shop consciously chooses rapeseed wax because it is a vegetable and biodegradable product.
Sustainable packaging
At Ravenna's Shop we love to think green. Unfortunately, that is not possible in everything, but we do our best to minimize the use of plastic.
The wax melts are packed in bags made of biodegradable material and can simply be disposed of with residual waste or green waste.
We use cardboard shipping boxes (if possible) made of recycled cardboard. The packaging of orders we have received is also reused. After all, it is the content of the package that counts, right? In this way, we think as much as possible about the environment and package sustainably.
Given the fragile condition of some products, Ravenna's Shop cannot avoid using bubble wrap sometimes. We do try to reuse it, but of course the most important thing is that the products arrive intact.
